The South Side Symphony Orchestra’s Development String Ensemble.
South Side Symphony Orchestra supports community musicians by providing an introduction to ensemble work as a pathway to our full symphony Orchestra.
The Fledgestrings, – the South Side Symphony Orchestra’s Development String Ensemble, is for string players with approximate AMEB level 2-4 skills.
Adults who have taken up their instrument with two years of playing experience or are rusty are encouraged to apply.
The group enjoys working toward understanding ensemble and bridging the gap so players feel ready to join the full Orchestra after this course.
We also can recommend instrumental teachers specialised in giving adult lessons and help with questions about where a player might fit comfortably.
The Fledgestrings Musical Director, Ruth Klein Cook is classically trained and is proficient in varied musical genres and ensembles. You can find Ruth playing solo, leading the sFOURzando Chamber Ensemble, or as a member of the Perth Symphony Orchestra, Fremantle Chamber Orchestra, and Australian Baroque. Ruth also tutors privately and at the Hale School, and coaches chamber music with the WA Chamber Music Program. Ruth performed in orchestras across the US before moving to Australia in 2011.
It’s fun and satisfying. More photos here.
