Laurissa Wyllie-McCarthy is a composer, conductor and educator. She was born and raised in Perth, and was a music scholarship student at Perth Modern School. She is a multi-award-winning graduate of the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts.
Laurissa pursued her post-graduate studies at the Zoltan Kodaly Pedagogical Institute of Music of the Liszt Academy in Hungary before engaging in a professional life in as a conductor, performer and composer in the Middle East.
Since her return to Perth, Laurissa has taught music to all ages in the private and public sector, working with children from as young as two years through to students at high school and university level.
Laurissa has conducted numerous orchestras, ensembles and choirs of all levels, and most recently took up the position of musical director of the South Side Symphony Orchestra.
