South Side Symphony Orchestra (SSSO), established in February 2011, is a young vibrant and friendly community orchestra based in Ardross. In its short history SSSO has become recognised as a valuable cultural asset in the south metro region.
SSSO performs 4-5 concerts each year with programmes of variety genre from movie themes to more classical pieces. Exciting, quality performances are kept affordable and easily accessed for audiences. SSSO also support Western Australian home-grown professional musicians, and our performances are often presented in diverse and interesting performance spaces.
We are grateful to our dynamic and esteemed Musical Director, Rob Gladstones for his expertise in developing the Orchestra. Through weekly rehearsals he has challenged and inspired us in preparation for our performances.
We have more than 50 enthusiastic members from diverse musical backgrounds. Amongst us are keen amateur, student and professional players. What unites us is the passion and pleasure in making music with and for others.
We are delighted to have enthusiastic musicians join where vacancies for instruments exist. Members are required to have attained 5th Grade in AMEB (or equivalent) and over.
SSSO is also able to offer a training ensemble – The FledgeStrings. This group consists of rusty or fledgling string players (violin, viola, cello and bass) who wish to develop their musical and orchestral skills by playing in a supportive and friendly group in preparation for joining SSSO. The FledgeStrings rehearse on Monday evenings in Rossmoyne. For more information, contact Ronniet: 0402084765
Apart from making music, SSSO aims to create a friendly atmosphere and holds several social events through the year for members.
